The rapid development of AI technology is bringing about immense changes to existing medical systems and related industries, which will, in turn, influence the transformation of legal systems. To respond to the impact that AI development will have on medical systems and industry, this Foundation has gathered domestic and international cross-disciplinary experts. Through discussions on various topics from the medical and legal sectors, we hope to help government, academia, and industry obtain the latest AI medical development trends. By inviting foreign scholars, we aim to reference and learn from the newest international developments. The seminar further seeks to deepen dialogue among all sectors, aiding the balance between the operation of medical practice, the formulation of legal policies, and the development of the AI medical industry, thereby contributing to the future advancement of AI healthcare.
This seminar will feature four planned themes: "Legal Systems for Medical Incident Prevention and Patient Safety," "Legal Systems for Regenerative Medicine," "Smart Healthcare and Personal Data Protection Legal Systems (I)," and "Smart Healthcare and Personal Data Protection Legal Systems (II)." A brief description of each session follows:
- "Legal Systems for Medical Incident Prevention and Patient Safety": Focuses on introducing the latest developments in medical incident prevention and patient safety in Germany, the United States, and Japan. Subsequently, it discusses how Taiwan's response to medical incidents—in terms of prevention and dispute resolution—can draw lessons from the new medical legal systems of the U.S., Japan, and Germany to adapt to domestic practice.
- "Legal Systems for Regenerative Medicine": Features an introduction to and comparison of the regenerative medicine legal frameworks of Japan and Taiwan, followed by an exploration of how Taiwan's regenerative medicine legislation should respond.
- "Smart Healthcare and Personal Data Protection Legal Systems (I)": Examines the legal aspects of utilizing patient personal data for smart healthcare through AI big data analysis, and identifies areas for legal improvement from the perspective of clinical practice.
- "Smart Healthcare and Personal Data Protection Legal Systems (II)": Addresses how AI is applied in the medical field, as well as the resulting issues concerning the protection of patient privacy rights and the methods and disputes related to personal data processing.
